Have you been wanting to delve deeper into the fiber world, but haven’t known where to begin? Come to our next Knitting Guild Meeting, where Kristine Bullock and Marielle Jordan will speak to us about the different fiber fairs, conventions, workshops, cruises, etc. that are available to knitters this year. They will discuss the classes offered, teachers that people love, vendors not to miss, and more, including how to enter items in our own County and State Fairs. Don’t miss this!
Wednesday, April 10 — Murray Library — 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
The new year of the Salt Lake Knitting Guild is about to begin this month with our kickoff meeting (I know it’s weird – we have our guild year from September to August, whatever). We are eager to see everyone there and get our new year started off right! We’re meeting at the Murray Library as usual at 6:30pm in the conference room. Don’t forget your show-n-tell of the lovelies you’ve made over the summer.
We’re having a great program that night on new sock techniques. If you’d like to actively participate in the technique just cast on 60 sts over 3 (or 4 if you like) dpn’s and work about a half inch or so, then bring it to the meeting and be ready to work the rest of it with a new toe technique to close it up.
And just you wait until you see what we’ve got for the Drop n’ Swap table! We’ve de-cluttered and reorganized the guild library closets and we have lots of goodies going on to the table for the taking, so get while the getting’s good! You will be seeing all sorts of new books coming into our library for the members’ use and you are going to be so happy. By the way, we take requests too, if you know of a book you’d like us to carry.
Since this is the beginning of the new year for the guild, now is the time to bring your knitting friends and get them involved in the guild with us. Be sure to bring your check or cash for membership renewal and your registration form, or you can fill on out at the meeting that night.
See you there!

Well, here we are at summer again, and that means our regular guild meetings are adjourned until September. Susan Newhall is once again hosting our social meeting in June. We will be meeting at her house in Pepperwood on June 13th at 6:30pm. Bring a treat to share and we’ll see if we get our traditional rainstorm (we seem to have the magic touch).
If you need the address, please check out our Ravelry group or PM me with your email and I’ll give you the info.
May is when we traditionally have our much-anticipated annual fashion show. Be sure to bring your knitted items that you want to have either modeled or displayed (for non-wearables). Everyone looks forward to this event every year. Come show your stuff!
Be sure to fill out labels for each of your items – available from the newsletter or at the door when you arrive.
Join us on May 16th at 6:30pm at the Murray Library for a great time!
The April guild meeting will be on 4/11 at the Murray Library at 6:30 p.m. The topic is “Baby Shower” — knitting for the wee ones — and we’ll be talking about yarns, sizing, modifications, and all the other things that make a baby knit work. Sarah Scott will address several aspects of knitting for babies and small children, then we will also have a presentation from Verla Younker about suitable yarns.
Hope to see you there!
VERY IMPORTANT! March’s guild meeting has been moved to the 3rd Wednesday of the month. We had a scheduling conflict with the library, so we have to wait an additional week. We are meeting on March 21st at the regular time, 6:30pm, at the Murray Library.
Our program that night will be about tips and techniques for lace knitting. Bring your favorite or most helpful lace knitting book to share and join in or roundtable discussion.
Be sure to join the Knitting Guild for our next meeting on Wednesday, February 8th! We’re back at the Murray Library, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. We’ll have two great presentations that night — first Susan Newhall will discuss understanding and respecting copyright, then Tabitha Park will give us tips on how to better photograph our knits. We hope to see you there!
Don’t forget that we have our monthly Guild meeting is coming up on January 11th from 6:30-8:30pm. However, due to scheduling conflicts with the Murray Library, we have had to move our meeting to the Draper Library. We hope that we will still see all of you there. And don’t forget your Show-n-tell. We want to see what all of you have been working on over the holidays, especially those who have been working on the study group project, the Earth & Sky Shawl.
Our program that night will be all about dyes, natural and chemical. Don’t miss it!
